Several UWC schools and colleges welcome students from 2-15 years old. These younger years programmes run alongside the IBDP/IBCP, which is offered at all UWC schools and colleges for students aged 16-19.
Students in the younger years take part in age-appropriate learning that reflects UWC’s mission to make education a force for peace and a sustainable future.
Learning that builds foundations
Younger students gain a strong academic foundation so they feel ready for the rigours of the IBDP/IBCP by the time they turn 16, if they choose that path. The curriculum leading up to the IB Diploma years varies by school. Some offer Cambridge IGCSE, others teach the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) and the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) or follow their own carefully designed curricula.
Learning beyond the classroom
Children and young people from 2 to 15 years old learn to take part actively in their schools, local communities and the wider society. Programmes encourage them to question, create and engage through hands-on, values-led learning. Along the way, they develop social, emotional and creative skills that help them thrive in all areas of life.
A mix of day and boarding options
Most UWC schools with younger years programmes offer a mix of residential and non-residential places. The age at which students can start boarding depends on each school. Campus spaces bring together day students and boarders as one community. At UWC schools that only offer high school programmes for students aged 15-19, all students live and learn together as boarders.
