Five steps to a completed UWC application

Five steps to a completed UWC application

The second step is being offered a place. But to get there, you need to submit your application.

The UWC application process is designed to get to know the real you. Taking your time and breaking it into smaller steps can help you stay focused and enjoy the process..

Below are five suggested steps to guide you through the application process. You could complete one step each day, or follow your own pace. It doesn’t take five full days to complete the form, but spreading the work out can make it easier to balance alongside your studies and other commitments.

Before you begin, remember that there are three main ways to apply:

Make sure you understand which route applies to you and check the relevant deadlines.

Depending on your application route, you may be asked to provide academic and non-academic references, school reports or an explanation of your school’s grading system. This information typically involves others, so please review the form carefully and request any necessary items as soon as possible.

All UWC schools offer the same core education, but each has its own setting, culture and strengths. During the process, you’ll be asked to rank your preferences.

If you're applying through the Global Selection Programme, you can choose up to four preferred schools from a list of 15.

Use this step to explore the different options and think about where you would thrive.

This is your opportunity to showcase what makes you unique. Reflect on your life experiences, interests, and passions. What do you enjoy doing? What motivates you? What values guide you?

Use this part of the form to help us understand who you are beyond your grades.

UWC is about making a difference in the world. Many application forms ask what you care about and how you’d like to create change.

In the Global Selection Programme application form, for example, you might be asked which social issues matter to you or what you would change if you were a headteacher for a week. Take time to reflect and share your ideas clearly.

Once you’ve completed the form, take time to check everything carefully. Then, most importantly, submit it!

If you’re applying through the Global Selection Programme or the International Application Pathway, submit your form as soon as possible, as places are limited. If you’re applying through a UWC national committee, check their website for local deadlines.
