Students teaching students

High School students involved in our Rainforest Restoration Project service wanted to raise awareness about threats to forests around the world with our Middle School students.

They designed a 15 minute lesson to be presented during tutor time and have delivered the lesson to several classes now.

The focus is on how changing our diet to include less meat and more plant based options will help reduce deforestation and allow areas to recover over time.

This project was entirely student initiated and they have shown great passion and confidence in talking about this important issue to younger students. The younger students engage well – it’s almost as if they listen with more intent to their peers than to us teachers!

Our campus is now planning our Veganuary awareness month after the break and these lessons are a great contribution to those discussions – thanks High School Rainforest Outreach Team!
