Batteries collection champions

Batteries collection champions

In November, our Primary students, and many Secondary students and staff volunteers, participated in a 3-week national campaign in the Netherlands for schools to collect and recycle used batteries. The enthusiasm among our students, staff and families to keep adding to our counting, asking family and friends and even neighbours was contagious!

Even though our school was not among the lucky ones that won the Batteries Battle, we are very proud of the 201.4 kg of empty or malfunctioning batteries we managed to collect, which will not pose a potential environmental hazard anymore and have been recycled safely. In total, 179,000 kilos of empty batteries were collected nationwide through this campaign.

Beyond this campaign, our school continues to collect empty batteries on a daily basis in partnership with Stibat.
