Apply for the IBDP or IBCP

Choosing the right programme depends on your interests, future plans and what excites you most about learning. You’ll have the chance to express a preference during the application process – and if you’re unsure, that’s ok. If you are offered a place at UWC, our selectors and admission teams will help advise which route is the best fit.

How to apply to study the IBDP or the IBCP at UWC

You can apply through one of three routes:

1. Apply through a UWC national committee

UWC national committees represent the movement in over 150 countries and territories. They select students based on potential, motivation and need – including many who would not otherwise have access to a high-quality education.

If you need financial support, this is the route for you. More than 80% of students selected through UWC national committees receive financial assistance based on individual circumstances.

Applications for entry in 2026 (January 2027) for Waterford Kamhlaba UWC of Southern Africa are already open in some countries or will be opening soon. Contact the UWC national committee in your country of residence or citizenship to get started.

2. Apply through the UWC Global Selection Programme (GSP)

15* UWC schools also offer places through the UWC Global Selection Programme (GSP). This route is for students who do not require financial assistance and are able to pay full fees.

You can apply directly to one or more participating schools. This may be the right route if you are focused on a specific location or timeline.

No scholarships are available through the GSP and places are limited.

Applications for Entry 2026 (January 2027 for Waterford Kamhlaba UWC of Southern Africa) opened on 18 August 2025.

*UWC Adriatic, UWC Robert Bosch College and UWC South East Asia currently do not accept students through the GSP.

3. Apply through the UWC International Application Pathway (IAP)

While UWC has a large global presence, there are some countries that do not yet have an active national committee. If you are unable to apply through a national committee based either on your nationality or on your residency, and you need a scholarship, this may be the route for you.

Places are limited, and we will need to confirm your eligibility before processing your application.

You can only submit one application per year to study – either through a UWC national committee, through the UWC Global Selection Programme, or through the International Application Pathway. The table below compares the three routes to help you decide:
