Bird and Butterfly Houses

Bird and Butterfly Houses

Students of all ages work in partnership with Department of Marine and Coastal Resources in replanting mangrove trees to repopulate mangrove forests and increase biodiversity in Phuket.

Biodiversity loss is a great concern associated with global warming and associated climate change. UWC-USA is about to place 24 bird houses to invite blue birds, wrens and purple martins to campus and set up 4 Butterfly houses on a sloped hill site where students planted bright yellow sunflowers under the blue New Mexico sky in support of Ukraine and to attract and feed butterflies on campus. This project also supports the “homegrown National Park” movement to establish native habitat for wildlife.
