Potted Plant Workshops at UWCSEA East Campus

Potted Plant Workshops at UWCSEA East Campus
Permaculture in Action

The United World Colleges (UWC) ethos of global unity and sustainability appears in many services at East Campus. Among its initiatives, the Potted Plant workshops stand out, weaving permaculture principles – such as innovation, interconnectivity and sustainability- into hands-on learning.

Led by students as young as Grade 5, these workshops empower both peers and the parent community. Utilising repurposed newspapers as plant containers, participants embrace resourcefulness, a cornerstone of permaculture. They delve into propagation techniques, using a blended soil mix enriched with on-campus compost. This holistic approach not only promotes plant health but also mirrors our commitment to a reduced carbon footprint.
