UWC-Global Fund for Women Partnership

Global Fund for Women envisions a world where movements for gender justice have transformed power and privilege for a few into equity and equality for all.  Founded over 30 years ago to fill a critical gap in funding for local women’s rights organisations, today they are the leading funder of gender justice organisations, initiatives and movements worldwide.

In 2023, UWC teamed up with the Global Fund for Women to expand leadership, education pathways for talented adolescent girls from Sub-Saharan Africa, providing mentorship and support to empower them with leadership skills. The initiative includes scholarships for short courses and two full years of education, and will support 200+ girls from Eastern and Southern Africa over three years from 2023-2025

The project is implemented in cooperation with UWC East Africa in Tanzania and Waterford Kamhlaba UWC of Southern Africa (UWCSA) in Eswatini. It targets talented girls from the East African Community (Democratic Republic of Congo, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Uganda) and the Southern African Development Community (SADC) (Madagascar, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Eswatini and Zimbabwe).
