World Soil Day celebrations

World Soil Day (WSD) is held annually on 5 December as a means to focus attention on the importance of healthy soil and to advocate for the sustainable management of soil resources.

It can take up to 10,000 years for the Earth’s natural cycles to form 30cm of fertile soil. Once it’s ready we plant crops for food, rainforests grow, sequester carbon and give us oxygen, we can use it to build houses for shelter… So we created some displays/ experiments in our school to reflect on soil as a symbol of resilience, the opportunities it gives us, and how we can conserve it for future generations.
